A certification name is useful only when you understand what it covers and which product it applies to.
Identify the scope
Fibre content, processing and chain-of-custody systems answer different questions. Ask for the exact standard, certified entity, certificate validity and scope. A certificate belonging to one participant does not automatically certify every product sold by another.
Look at the finished item
For GOTS claims, the final product and relevant supply chain must meet the applicable requirements. A garment made from a certified intermediate fabric cannot simply be presented as a certified finished garment. Decoration, labelling and trading activities also require appropriate consideration.
Check the supporting documents
Request order-specific evidence where applicable and agree the exact wording before using marks in a brochure or online listing. Keep a record linked to the product reference and order. Do not substitute a generic logo downloaded from the internet for valid documentation.
Keep the language precise
Avoid broad claims that exceed the available evidence. EOPROMOS confirms certification and documentation per project, not across the entire assortment. For detailed current requirements, consult Global Standard’s official labelling guidance and the relevant certification body.
